One thing I’ve learned in my adult life is to “never say never”. Oh the things I said I’d never do… to then jump in with both feet.
My first suburban is a perfect example. I shook my head at the thought of driving such a huge vehicle, until I had my 4th child. I think I squealed with delight the first time kids were fighting (at what seemed a school bus distance away from my ears) in the back seat haha!
Just the other day I realized I am entering the phase of raising children I was at when we started all over again…adding a child to our family….and then another one….and another one!
Julianne was 11 years old when John David was born. Janie is now 11 years old and I have some freedoms that I have not experienced in a very long time. I am embracing this time…enjoying the middle years of watching them grow up while not having little ones at the same time.
That brings me to the latest crazy in our family. John David came home from college in November talking about his dream of converting an old school bus into and rv to travel out west with some friends. They call it a Skoolie…I laughed…
I continued to laugh as he and Hank discussed all the things thinking “it will never happen” and did not worry a bit. I continued to laugh inside while listening to John David pull Hank further and further into the school bus abyss.
John David discovered that you can buy a school bus through the government’s school bus surplus auctions. Really?? Hank was in it to win it, he loves a great deal.
Well, a week later….

This was my view when I let the dogs out the next morning 😂.
I mean all I can do is laugh right???

We took the entire family on a bus ride around the neighborhood.
hahahaha!

I believe Allie is the most excited seeing as she will always be a child at heart!
A few of our family’s texts for your viewing pleasure 🤣

Just a glimpse into what a pandemic will do to a large family!

Halle is a fan!

Our driver, he sure looks the part. This man can do and fix anything!
I believe John David is following in his footsteps…as soon as he learns the ins and outs of driving a bus!

Because it is normal to have a school bus parked in your driveway 😂!

Or in one of your best friend’s driveway lol! We had such a fun night.

Halle and her beenie approve!
All I can say is you never know what can happen in a pandemic. It sure is crazy and I hope it will be fun for John David and his friends to work on something as cool as a school bus for travel.

I laugh every single time I drive into my driveway.
Hank’s only rule was that John David had to find a place to park the bus. Well…that fell through (that is what happens when an 18 year old buys a bus🤣). I believe they have found another place now, but in the meantime I am entertained by the creativity and excitement of said 18 year old!
