So YES…we did allow John David to take the bus out west. I posted about the bus here ( https://www.paige-writes.com/you-bought-a-bus/ ) so you can read the back story!
John David and his friends have worked on the bus for over a month…lots of friends who were not able to go helped so much. They painted it, removed seats, built bunk beds and more. John David has worked so hard on this project, installed a “water system”(I’m not sure I would call it that but it works for a bunch of boys🤣), placed solar panels on the roof, hooked up an electrical system for the air conditioning, phone chargers and refrigerator.

All ready to go! Note the window unit 😳…that is the only air conditioning they have, not to be used while driving. John David said it actually was not so bad driving with the windows open. Oh to be young and free again haha!

This is the water system…that nozzle hooked to the wall? It works great! Put your bathing suit on, pull it out the window and take yourself a shower. Yes these boys did so in many a parking lot across the great west 😂. John David said they got some side looks!

Their snack table.

They had 4 bunk beds, a couch and a hammock. Last night I asked John David if he was ready to come home…his response, “not really, but the bus is starting to stink”. Yeah I bet it is hahahaha! They did take their clothes to a laundromat once that I am aware of…

All ready to go!

Graham, JP and John David have been friends since kindergarten, how cool is that!

And they are off!

Farmer Hank helping them back out….

John David sent me this pic showing where they parked the first night. He had it alllllll planned out. Who knew rv’s can park at Cracker Barrel and Walmart??

I LOVE this picture so much. How cool are these boys!? It looks like an album cover right!?

I wish I could tell you where they are but I’m not all that sure! All I know is that they started at the Grand Canyon, then Zion National Park, on to Bryce Canyon and all the way up to Glacier National Park and back down to Yellowstone.

I would get a row of pictures from John David with this in the middle…

Hank and I decided the boys are in love with their bus haha!

I’ll leave you with this picture because it pretty much sums up how creative these guys are.
When John David started talking about getting a bus, I totally discounted it and believed it would never happen. Well, as usual I’m wrong. He set his mind on a dream and made it happen. If I’m honest, I did not want this trip to happen for all the “Mom” reasons….but I am so proud of John David believing he could make something happen and being willing to work very hard to make it work. They are on the homesteatch now and should arrive home tomorrow afternoon 😊.
A trip they will remember and talk about the rest of their lives. What fun!
