This spring break kind of fell into our laps because John David’s break lined up with the girls. Then we have the issue of a 20 year old boy/man along with 13 and 15 year old girls…what will everyone enjoy together?
We landed on Sedona for lots of reasons, but particularly that we were able to rent a house more reasonably than 2 hotel rooms. Also whoever did not want to participate in any activities could safely stay at the house.
I cannot remember a vacation that we came home from content and relaxed…this was our first and we are so so thankful. We have lots of needs to consider when we travel due to the girls various needs. Apparently the stars, moon and sun all alligned for this trip haha! Throw in a 20 year old who loves making fun of his parents…I’ll just say we laughed and laughed. He also suggested we watch Murderville and it was a hit every night.
Now on to the photo dump 😎

The view from our rental house 🙂

Janie is pumped about her carrot cake.

First hike to Devil’s Bridge. It was amazing!

Madeline and I had to get a pic together because she overcame her fear of heights and kept on going. I am so proud of her!

Can you blame her? Hank would not go out there either so she had a buddy 🙂 The rest of us LOVED IT..

A passing hiker told us about this other trail that takes you below the bridge, super cool right!

John David and Janie love hiking, like REALLY love hiking.

Another area for them to climb

Sunset from the porch.

Day two, Cathedral Rock. Madeline made the wise decision to sleep in. It was steep and so much fun. She would have hated it. John David and Janie were like rabbits climbing. Hank said “this is terrible” 25 times until I told him to stop. Apparently I talked about how old I am the entire hike haha!

Again a hiker told us about this trail off to the side to see the back side, we were so glad we did!

As you can see it was beautiful!
Next up was back to get Madeline, eat lunch and go on a Pink Jeep tour.

Our guide took this cool pic haha!

The jeep tour was good, but not what I thought we had signed up for. Hank and I had been years ago and the jeep drives all over the rocks, super cool. This was like driving on dirt roads to lookouts. Good but…learned my lesson to do my homework next time 🙂

Day three…the Grand Canyon. Goodness we had a great day exploring.

John David calls this Janie’s album cover picture haha!

Day four we were leaving that evening, so we had a slow morning. John David and Janie were not happy with us because they wanted to hike Cathedral Rock again, but Hank and I were too nervous to let them go by themselves. Whoops!
We went to see Chapel of the Holy Cross instead on the way out of town. Really cool.
We had such a great trip. It was fun to have all the school age kids together. Our next trip will be with the entire family next year 🙂
