“Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.”
I read this a few months ago and could not remember where; I found it again today and it just sums up the way I feel! Adoption has forever changed me and everyone in our family. We are all in agreement that it is a beautiful gift from God to love a child whom you did not know as your own. I don’t ever think of Madeline as an orphan any more since she IS our family; yet every single night as I lay down with her I am in awe that she is MY child and I have the priveledge to raise her. She forces me to stay close to God in that I need constant reassurance that we are doing what is right for her, such a balance of discipline and love……..
