Happy Family Day to my dear Madeline!! This day eleven years ago changed me forever. I know all adoptive mamas say that…because it is true! This precious girl was being cared for in an orphanage in China. She did not know she was waiting on a family, but we knew. Children are living in orphanages all over the world…a stark reality…one we can choose to ignore living our daily lives. God did not allow us to ignore this reality and for that I am eternally grateful!
God started the desire in our family to step into the world of adoption with fear and trepidation…He met us in this place and has never left us. Adoption is beauty and struggle twisted together…much like our walk as Christians, that road of being held in Christ’s hands while struggling in our sin.
Madeline is a force to be reckoned with… in her beauty, her intense love for her family, her need for control, her desire to be perfect and make those places of loss find some type of order. She is more than I ever imagined, the love I have for her is intense and protective. She is so very special and loved!
I LOVE Janie’s excitement for her sister as she opens her family day gift:)
Madeline is obsessed with Sailor Moon at the moment and asked for a music box. It turned out much smaller than she expected but she did not care a bit ha! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a music box that small:)
Adorable girl!
I will do an entire post on our new family member, but lets just say he has MADE Madeline’s weekend celebration!!
I love this sweet picture of Madeline, she has the most soulful eyes I know!
Sweet girl, we love you so much and are forever blessed having you as our daughter… As we used to say as you went to bed as a little girl; I love you as big as the moon and sky with (whatever you were loving at the time) on top! Right now that would be; I love you as big as the moon and sky with ALL THE CANDY on top:)!
